I also give a critical edition and English translation of the only surviving self-contained Arabic summary of the work by the prolific physician and philosopher Abū al-Faraǧ b. al-Ṭayyib. This article shows how various thinkers, including al-Rāzī and Maimonides, were able to use and adapt the same Galenic work in different ways, to suit various pedagogical needs and to create works in a variety of genres.
