After conquering the Roman Near East this king ruled over the largest Christian community on earth, and he was forced to deal with many conflicting Christian sects and denominations. Khusro remained neutral vis-à-vis the conflicts that occurred between quarreling Christian communities. A pragmatist, he favoured no one at the expense of another. Despite the fact that he is depicted by sources as a tyrant, he knew Christianity better than any previous Persian king.
