Remains of sheep, goat and cattle dominate the assemblages summing up to 90% within both units. Differences become visible among the other taxa: The faunal spectrum coming from the kitchen is by far more diverse including deer, hare, wild boar, chicken, chukar partridge, geese and catfish. The catfish remains are of particular interest since they are of minor numerical importance in the faunal remains from other contemporaneous sites in the wider region. Fish was obviously more important in the diet of monastic communities than in the diet of ordinary people. Since there are no appropriate waterbodies in the direct vicinity of Dülük Baba Tepesi it can be hypothesized that ponds were built to provide the monastery with fish, which was the only allowed source of meat on some of the many fasting days.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
