This may be to inform, to encourage, to defend, et cetera. This truth is especially apparent in documents of faith communities and none more so than in the work of Ephrem the Syrian Father of the Church who lived in the fourth century of the C.E. It is with this in mind that the article presents a poetic analysis of Ephrem the Syrian's Hymn De Azymis XIII. Through an analysis of the poetic techniques used by Ephrem the article aims to decipher the textual strategy and the response sought through this hymn from a Semitic Christian community.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
