The analysis of the critical works published by Dedering, Strothmann, Baumstark, Hausherr, Lavenant and Rignell, among other authors, serves as the starting point to highlight the problem of the historicity and accreditation of different theological and spiritual tractates, dialogues and letters to one Syrian monk. The study presents an organisation of the different theories that portray the lack of consensus among scholars in order to propose a possible solution.
