At the meeting at Limassol (Cyprus), 5-7 September 1991, J. M. Fiey was asked to present the doctrine of the Eastern Syriac Church according to its own synods. The present article reconsiders the same argument following the Synodicon Orientale step by step and comparing it with some other sources. The author points out that the name of Nestorius appears for the first time in a document coming from this Church in 612, mentions some reluctances to use the term "Theotokos" and suggest that the certain different philosophical concepts may be largely responsible for the divergences."
