Etymological discussions are offered for ten selected NENA lexical items of unknown or doubtful provenance. Etymologies for additional lexemes are briefly suggested in passing. In most cases a comparative inter-dialectal study is crucial for unravelling the origins of enigmatic words whose etyma cannot be detected by mere recourse to classical Aramaic or other potential source-languages. In addition to adducing missing links found in cognate dialects, each etymological discussion contains an account of the phonological, morphological and semantic processes involved in the development of the lexical item under consideration.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
