Mesopotamian inheritance seems to have been unimportant, and the only original Syriac feature is mainly the use of the Seleucid era and that of local subjects (like lists of Sassanid kings or Edessenian bishops). Nevertheless, before AD 500, there was another Syriac way of writing history, which, while drawing on the Bible, was not only influenced by Hebraic and Aramaic Jewish traditions, but also by Greek knowledge. This tradition is known during the IVth and Vth centuries, in some of Aphraat's Homilies and in the Cave of Treasures.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
