In 1957, this evidence led Lebram to suggest that the Vorlage of S2 might be the source of all subsequent versions of this chapter of Tobit. After a history of research on the issue, this study identifies S2’s Vorlage for Tobit 13 on the basis of a comparative analysis. S2 is a derivative translation tending to shorten and harmonize an earlier, today unknown Greek text.
