It addresses the
exegetical traditions that Theodore of Mopsuestia shares with the representatives of the Homoousian
network, while interpreting the Last Commandment, Mt 28:19 (“Go, make disciples of all nations, aptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”). Contextualizing Theodore’s biblical interpretation among the Homoousian sources, this study demonstrates that Theodore draws on the use of Mt 28:19 in the context of the Trinitarian debates. His reliance on the Homoousian exegetical traditions must be the reason why doctrinal elements appear in his exegesis usually labelled “historical” and why some examples of his exegesis deviate from the historia of Mt 28:19 and are better to be designated as “doctrinal”.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
