Ephrem the Syrian (died in 373 C.E.) is well known to be a representative of this tradition. But traces are also found in several other Fathers of the Church’s writings (e.g. Epiphanius of Salamis, Theodoret of Cyrus, Jacob of Sarug, Romanos the Melodist), in various christian writings (in Syriac, Coptic, Greek and even Latin), in the Apocrypha, in the gnostic writings or assimilated texts and even in the Talmud of Babylon. These texts convey the tradition the author of this article has called “diatessaric”: a tradition principally known and transmitted by authors who used the Diatessaron, a Syriac Harmony of the Four Gospels traditionally attributed to Tatian (ca. 170). According to the author, this tradition is rooted in the Gospels, where Mary of Magdala and the Mother of Jesus are never presented simultaneously, with the sole exception of John 19:25. But, in his opinion, John only mentions two women here : he presents them, then he names them, but in reverse order as it is a chiasmus (of the classic scheme a.b.b.a).</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
