The main sources for the report are materials collected by the author as part of a field expedition in 2020. A variant of the classification of monuments of liturgical writing currently used for worship is presented. If necessary, comparative parallels with the Byzantine rite are drawn. Th e article concludes with review of aspects for further study of the West Syriac written tradition in synchronic and diachronic analysis.
