On the example of the fi ctive speech of the King of Nineveh the study demonstrates the use of the Wisdom literature and Wisdom motifs as a frame of the Memra. Th e author shows that the method of Wisdom literature, i.e., the search for the analogies to the actual events in the past, gives the possibility to express the correspondent heuristic pattern in the Syriac work, while the dichotomy of “two paths”: the path of the “wicked” and the one of the “righteous” is used as a frame for the opposition of the “righteous” Ninevites and the “wicked” Jews. A similar usage of Wisdom motifs as a cognitive frame appears in the authentical Ephrem’s works that could contribute to the question of the authorship of this Memra or at least testify of the common tradition of writers.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
