Although Bardaisan’s cosmology is already studied, the testimonies about the <i>esṭuksē / ītyē</i> contain some contradictions difficult to explain. The present article proposes a new interpretation of Bardaisan’s doctrine, based on the comparison with Aristotle’s cosmology. The Aristotelian approach to the movement of the elements, their qualities and their reciprocal actions gives a better understanding of the obscure points of the Bardaisanite doctrine and makes it possible to recover its coherence. Moreover, the debate engaged by Aristotle with the atomistic theories helps to understand the place of perdē - atoms - in Bardaisan’s system.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
