These inscriptions are part of the nave’s rich iconography and cover various themes: four of them indicate months names, which are depicted as figures bearing specific attributes; another, inscribed in a <i>tabula ansata</i>, commemorates the laying of the mosaic, listing several individuals with their ecclesiastical functions and mentioning a date, which is unfortunately broken. The paleographic, philological, onomastic, and literary analyses, as well as the comparative study with dated mosaic inscriptions from the same region, suggest a date at the end of the sixth century. Therefore, the inscriptions of Gola represent a new example of Syriac epigraphic practice on mosaic in this region.
