Some authors have attributed to the formula a "sacrificial" or "offertorial" meaning and have wondered whether this development is an influence of Basil's anaphora on Chrysostom's or an external influence on both anaphoras. Using for the first time some patristic sources of the fourth and fifth centuries, the author shows that the formula is not sacrificial or offertory but simply dedicatory. With this formula gifts were dedicated to God as churches, altars, religious buildings but also homes and civil buildings. In the Byzantine sacramentaries the phrase is also used in prayer for the construction of a boat and for the grape harvest. The interpolation should date back to the middle of the fifth century and entered simultaneously into the anaphoras of Basil and Chrysostom to emphasize that, as every reality created, even the bread and wine of the Eucharist are packaged from the wheat and vine, that are gifts of God.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
