The theological controversies of the Vth century led to a considerable weakening of Armenian-Syrian ecclesiastical ties; notwithstanding this fact, the memory of once thriving intimate relationship between the two peoples and their cultures has been preserved in the later Armenian tradition which, among other monuments, is represented by «The History of Taron». The author demonstrates examples of cooperation between Armenians and Syrians who worked together for the enlightenment of Armenia and analyses the factual as well as the conceptual aspects of the book. Proceeding from an examination of the «History» against the historical background of early medieval Armenia, the author comes to the conclusion that the book can be correctly assumed to have been written in the Xth century.
