The first group mostly consists of no-longer extant theoretical texts, including the Syriac translations of Galen’s De Semine, De Foetuum Formatione, De Uteri Dissectione and De Propriis Placitis, the Syriac translation of the pseudo-Galenic In Hippocratis De Foetus Natura Librum Commentarius, and the Syriac reception of Paul of Aegina. The second group consists of extant references in the surviving lists of simples, in both Syriac and Judaeo-Syriac, and in the medical recipes preserved in the Syriac Book of Medicines.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
