Often we fail to realize that the presence and actions of Christ and those of the Holy Spirit are inseparable. The difference of opinion concerning the relationship between baptism and chrismation, Words of Institution and Epiklesis seems to be the result of the absence of a sound trinitarian foundation of the sacramental theology. A unitarian piety or spirituality centered on Christ alone is unknown to the Syrian tradition. God who is "understood as one and confessed and worshipped as three" is the centre of our worship. The west syrian prayers always evoke the distinction of the three persons and their joint action."
