“ܐܠܘ ܥܠ ܡܕܡ ܐܚܪܝܢ ܡܬܦܩܕ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢ ܪܒܘܬܟ܇ ܐܘ ܡܪܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܒܪ ܚܐܪ̈ܐ ܡܪܝ ܫܒܘܪ ܡܫܡܫܢܐ܇ ܦܐܪܐ ܘܬܪܒܝܬܐ” 1
“Si ta grandeur m’avait ordonné autre chose, mon noble maître Mâr Shabour le diacre, fruit et augmentation de la bénédiction, sage dans les choses divines et enflammé de zèle spirituel et d’amour pour le Christ, je devrais rapidement et avec une grande application l’accomplir comme une action d’obéissance selon ton désir.” 1

“ܡܕܝܢ ܢܫܪܐ ܒܗ ܒܛܟܣܐ: ܘܡܢ ܪܫ ܡܘܥܝܬܗ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ. ܐܬܪܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܗܢܐ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܡܢ ܦܢܝܬܐ ܡܕܢܚܝܬܐ: ܡܢ ܐܘܪ ܕܟܠܕܝ̈ܐ: ܡܢ ܒܒܠ ܒܠܝܠܬܐ ܣܓܕܬ ܠܒܪ̈ܝܬܐ ܘܡܢܩܝܬ ܠܫܐܕ̈ܐ: ܡܢ ܪܘܣܬܩܐ ܕܡܫܬܡܗ ܚܝܫܬܪ: ܡܢ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܦܩܘܪܝܐ ܕܒܢܫܒܝܠ.” 1
“Commençons donc dans l’ordre et par le début de sa première croissance. Le pays de ce bienheureux était du côté de l’Orient, d’Our des Chaldéens, de la corrompue Babylone qui adore les créatures et sacrifie aux idoles, de la province nommée Hîshtar, d’un village appelé Paqouryâ Dabneshabêl.” 1

“Et on lui donna un nom qui ne passe pas, martyr couronné; que ses prières soient sur nous tous, amen et amen. Telles sont donc les moeurs admirables, louables, remarquables et sulimes de ce martyr couronné qui s’est illustré dans ses combats, ô amis de la vérité… Et que la pitié et la miséricorde soient sur toutes ses créatures, et surtout sur tout ce peuple aujoud’hui rassemblé pour honorer ce saint martyr Mâr Georges, par la grâce… Amen et amen. Priez pour celui qui a écrit.” 1
