ܟܕ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܡܪܝ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܥܘܡܪܐ ܕܟܡܘܠ ܪܫܐ ܘܡܕܒܪܢܐ ܕܥܘܡܪܐ ܗܘ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܘܟܕ ܡܛܠ ܥܠܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܗܝ ܫܒܩܗ ܠܥܘܡܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܢܦܩ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܐܘܕܥ ܠܐܢܫ. ܘܐܬܐ ܠܗ ܠܥܘܡܪܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܕܡܪܝ ܐܚܐ ܕܡܬܟܢܐ ܕܙܪܢܘܩܐ. 1
Alors que saint Mâr Jean était chef et administrateur du monastère de Kamoul, pour une certaine raison il quitta ce monastère, sortit seul et sans informer personne vint au saint monastère de Mâr Ahhâ, appelé Zarnouqâ. 1

Car c’est à saint Mâr Jean qu’était réservée cette action très admirable par la science divine, de sorte qu’il devînt le disséminateur et l’initiateur de ce trésor spirituel dans son pays et pou que, par le sort de ses pères, il y fondât ce saint monastère. 1
