Japan - [ Syriac Not Available ]

An island archipelago east of Korea, historically linked to the continent through maritime contact, embassies, monks, and imported texts. It selectively adopted continental institutions and religious culture while reshaping them in a distinct Japanese setting. In the context of Syriac Christianity, Japan is associated mainly with later scholarly claims, especially those of P. Y. Saeki, along with traditions about possible Jingjiao traces, Dunhuang-related materials, and reports connecting Prajña and Father Adam with Mount Hiei, though much of this remains debated rather than firmly established. 2, 3
