http://syriaca.org/place/5636
"Situated to the north of Jerusalem, Samaria formed the core of the ancient kingdom of Israel. Its inhabitants, the Samaritans, preserved their religious customs in Late Antiquity and repeatedly revolted against the Roman Empire in the sixth century. Joh. Eph., EH 2.29, polemically establishes a connection between Samaritans and persecutors of Christians."3
