"The Hebdomon was a coastal suburb located seven miles to the west of Constantinople. In Late Antiquity, it possessed an important imperial residence and large parade grounds for the army, hence it was also referred to in Greek as πρόκενσον (prokenson). Emperors were, upon their accession, acclaimed by the army on the parade ground of the Hebdomon in the later fourth and fifth centuries."6
