“في سفح جبل الإزل المطلّ على نصيبين شيد بناؤه اواخر المئة الرابعة او صدر الخامسة، وتقلبت به الاحوال فاستولى عليه النساطرة دهراً مديداً ثم عاد الينا اواخر المئة الثامنة عشرة. نشأ منه اسقفان ولم يزل عامراً يقطنه راهب واحد” 2
“at the foot of the Izla mountain, which overlooks Nisibin. Built at the end of the fourth or the start of the fifth century, it suffered many vicissitudes. The Nestorians held it for a long time, but we regained it at the end of the eighteenth century. It produced two bishops. At present it is inhabited by only one monk.” 3
Notes
In Dolabani's translation of Barsoum's description “ܘܐܶܫܬܰܚܠܦܘ” and “ܘܐܶܫܬܰܠܛܘ”
should read “ܘܶܐܫܬܰܚܠܦܘ” and “ܘܶܐܫܬܰܠܛܘ” respectively.
