                        دير عظيم رفع بناؤه اواخر المئة الرابعة وصار كرسيا مطرانيا وهو كذلك الى وقتنا هذا حوى في حقبته الاولى جماً من الرهبان غفيراً وتقلبت به الاحوال حتى جدد عام 1845 انجب بطريركين وستة مفارنة وثلاثة وثلاثين اسقفا.
                    
                    
                        a large monastery, built at the end of the fourth century, it became a metropolitan see and still holds that honor today. At the beginning it housed a great number of monks. It suffered many changes and calamities until it was renovated in 1845. It produced two Patriarchs, six Maphryonos and thirty bishops.
