                    In hagiography: Jacob was an important Bishop of Nisibis who built the large church of Nisibis. Ephrem the Syrian was deacon under him. He played an active role in the condemnation of Arius. The preservation of Nisibis when Shapur besieged it was attributed to his prayers.
