They present a historical narrative that is largely separate from the Arab-Islamic historiographical tradition concerning the events of the conquest and the response of the Christian inhabitants of Mesopotamia to the great political and religious changes that occurred following the collapse of the Sasanian Empire and the establishment of the Arab-Islamic caliphate. This study will help us to better understand the perspective of the conquered population in the face of these new developments through the Syriac accounts which have a somewhat different point of view from the Arab-Islamic historical sources.</note></biblStruct><bibl type="formatted" subtype="bibliography" resp="https://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-note-bibliography-17th-edition">
