2/23/2018 “Linking Manuscripts from the Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac domain” @Universität Hamburg

On 2/23/2018 Syriaca.org General Editor David Michelson will give two presentations at the workshop “Linking Manuscripts from the Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac domain: Present and Future Synergy Strategies.”

Michelson will present on “The Syriac Gazetteer” and “New Handbook of Syriac Literature & A Guide to Syriac Authors” and their potential for using linked open data technology to connect data about authors whose works or influence extended across linguistic domains in the Syriac, Coptic, Christian Arabic and Ethiopic worlds.

The workshop will be held in Hamburg, 23-24 February, 2018 and is convened by the Hiob Ludolf Centre for Ethiopian Studies, projects Beta maṣāḥǝft, TraCES and Landesforschungsförderung Hamburg, Transmission of Knowledge in the Red Sea Area, at Universität Hamburg, in co-sponsorship with the PAThs project of Sapienza Università di Roma, and in cooperation with the projects CMCL, Syriaca.org, IslHornAfr and Ethiopian Manuscripts Archiv.
